Department of Midwifrey

Department of Basic Midwifery

Introduction

Welcome to the Department of Basic Midwifery at Anchor College of Nursing Sciences. Our department is dedicated to the art and science of midwifery, empowering students to become skilled, compassionate, and culturally competent birth professionals. With a focus on holistic care, evidence-based practice, and advocacy for women and families, we prepare students to play a vital role in promoting healthy pregnancies, safe childbirth, and positive birth experiences.

One of major is to educate, inspire, and support aspiring midwives in their journey to become advocates for women-centered care, guardians of normal birth, and leaders in maternal and newborn health. We are committed to fostering a culture of respect, equity, and inclusivity while promoting the highest standards of clinical excellence, ethical practice, and social responsibility.

Clinical Education

Clinical education is a cornerstone of our midwifery programs, providing students with hands-on experience in prenatal care, childbirth, postpartum care, and women’s health across the lifespan. Through partnerships with birth centers, hospitals, clinics, and community organizations, students have the opportunity to work alongside experienced midwives, attend births, and provide comprehensive care to women and families.

Department Excellence

Our departmental members are experienced midwives, nurse-midwives, and women’s health experts who are passionate about mentoring the next generation of midwifery leaders. With expertise in diverse areas of midwifery practice, they provide students with personalized attention, clinical supervision, and mentorship, fostering a supportive learning environment grounded in mutual respect and collaboration.

Research and Innovation

The Department of Midwifery is committed to advancing the science and practice of midwifery through research, scholarship, and innovation. Department and students engage in cutting-edge research projects, quality improvement initiatives, and community-based participatory research aimed at improving maternal and newborn health outcomes, promoting physiologic birth, and reducing health disparities.

Community Engagement

We believe in the importance of engaging with our local communities and promoting maternal and newborn health at the grassroots level. Through community-based projects, childbirth education classes, and advocacy efforts, our students and faculty work collaboratively with community partners to address maternal health inequities, promote informed decision-making, and empower women and families to achieve their birth goals.
