As part of the admission process, applicants may be required to undergo written and/or oral assessments, which will be determined by the college. It is important to note that prospective students must be at least 16 years old to be considered for admission to the college.

Educational Qualifications

Prospective students aiming to pursue the basic nursing/midwifery course at Anchor College of Nursing Sciences must meet specific educational qualifications. These qualifications serve as the foundation for ensuring that students have the academic capability to engage with the rigorous curriculum.

Subject Requirements

To be eligible for admission, candidates must have obtained five (5) credits in specific subjects. These subjects include:

  • English Language
  • Mathematics
  • Three (3) Other Credits in Sciences: Candidates must also possess credits in three science subjects, namely Chemistry, Physics, and Biology.

These subjects form the core of the scientific knowledge base required for understanding the principles of human anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and medical interventions.

Academic Performance

The requirement specifies that these credits should be obtained at not more than two sittings. This criterion ensures that candidates demonstrate consistent academic achievement and proficiency across multiple examination sessions.

In addition to academic qualifications, candidates can also present certificates from the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB). However, there are specific conditions regarding the acceptance of NABTEB certificates:

  • Single Sitting Requirement: Your NABTEB certificate must be obtained in a single sitting.
  • Non-Combination Policy: Furthermore, the NABTEB certificate cannot be combined with any other certificate.

In summary, the admission requirements for Anchor College of Nursing Sciences emphasize the importance of academic excellence, particularly in key subjects relevant to nursing and midwifery practice. By ensuring that candidates meet these stringent criteria, the college aims to enrol students who possess the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in their healthcare careers.
